World Elder Abuse Awareness Day
June 19, 2023
Waterview Pointe is always happy to be out and about in the community! We recently participated in the Second Sunday event coordinated by Marietta Main Street, which allowed local businesses to come together and share resources with the community. We took this opportunity to raise awareness for World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on June 15.
It's important for us as a long-term care facility to raise awareness about elder abuse and share resources that combat this challenge. Between 2019 and 2030, the number of persons aged 60 years or over is projected to grow by 38%, from 1 billion to 1.4 billion, globally outnumbering youth. This increase will be the greatest and the most rapid in the developing world, and recognizing that greater attention needs to be paid to the specific challenges affecting older persons, including in the field of human rights. Despite the wind and rain, we had a great time sharing information about the facility and spreading awareness by giving purple ribbons to those that stopped by. A very special thank you to Washington County Adult Protective Services for all they do to protect and care for our elderly population!
