Resident Spotlight: Ray Huffman

Ray Huffman has been a cherished long-term care resident at Waterview Pointe for several years. Known for his love of crafts, Card Shark, and Bingo, Ray's laughter and bright smile can often be heard from his room, spreading joy to everyone around him.



Recently, Ray shared a special milestone with the Waterview Pointe community. A heartfelt video captured the moment he rang the bell at the cancer center, marking the completion of his radiation treatments. Reflecting on his journey with cancer, Ray admitted, “I am still frightened about the possibility of having surgery.” He shared that while radiation was physically challenging, it was the uncertainty that felt the most overwhelming. Yet through it all, Ray has leaned on his unwavering faith in God to carry him through.

On his door, a simple but powerful sign hangs: “Faith is not knowing what your future holds, but knowing who holds the future.” This daily reminder helps Ray find peace and trust in the Lord, even during life’s most difficult moments.

Ray has also found solace in the supportive staff at Waterview Pointe. Several team members who have faced their own cancer journeys have provided him with a unique space to share his fears and frustrations with someone who truly understands. This connection has offered him comfort and strength.

Despite the challenges he has faced, Ray’s spirit remains strong. He often speaks of his grandmother, whose love and care left a lasting impact on his life. He credits her for teaching him kindness and resilience. Ray describes himself as easygoing and makes a conscious effort to be friendly to everyone he meets—a quality that makes him so deeply valued by residents and staff alike.

The world could certainly use more people like Ray Huffman. His perseverance, kindness, and infectious smile remind us all to keep faith and spread joy wherever we can.
