Staff Spotlight: Meet Dennis Lumbatis
September 26, 2024
For over 4.5 years, Dennis Lumbatis has served as the Dietary Director at Waterview Pointe, bringing with him over 35 years of management experience. His passion for his work is clear—when asked about his favorite part of the job, Dennis shared,
“I like to see the residents enjoying their food. Food means more to people as they get older and are not able to get out as much as they used to. Food and meals bring people together.”
At Waterview Pointe, an 80-bed facility, Dennis and his team expertly manage a wide range of dietary needs and restrictions to ensure every resident receives the right meals to keep them healthy and safe. Twice a month, residents get to enjoy a “resident choice” meal, where they can request seasonal favorites like homemade soups, shrimp, or even pineapple upside-down cake. These special touches make mealtime a source of joy and connection for everyone.
In addition to his daily responsibilities, Dennis also hosts a fun monthly program called
Cooking with Dennis, where residents can assist or watch him prepare a variety of dishes right in front of them. Afterward, they get to savor the delicious results! His talent and love for cooking extend beyond Waterview Pointe—Dennis also teaches bi-monthly cooking classes at the Marietta O’Neill Senior Center, sharing new recipes with participants.
Dennis’ dedication is reflected in the glowing feedback from residents. Here’s what some of them have to say:
- “I really loved the food.” – D. Brown
- “The meals were good, and all the people that took care of me were nice.” – K. Shuck
-
“The best thing here is the food—it is fantastic!” – Leslie B.
- “Everyone has been very nice, and the food is very good.” – R. Lisk
- “I am impressed with the food. The Dietary Director asked questions about my preferences, and everything on my list comes on my tray.” – E. West
We’re proud to have Dennis leading our dietary team and making a positive impact on our residents’ lives every day!
