Resident Spotlight: Ron Bayles
July 23, 2024
Meet Ron, a beloved resident at Waterview Pointe. Ron has five children and proudly showed a picture of him with all his family. He was married to his beloved wife for 42 years. Ron stated that she was his everything. Ron was also a member of the Williamstown Fire Company for 20 years. He reminisced about calls and events from his time in the fire department. Although there were tough calls and some were very sad, he stated that he loved being in the Fire Department and shared how much he was able to learn over the years.
With the Fenton Art Glass Annual Convention coming up this month, Ron spent time reflecting on his time that he worked at Fenton Art Glass. Ron shared that he worked with Fenton for 44 years, starting at the age of 18, and “could do just about everything in there.” Ron stated that his favorite position that he worked in was a “handler.” He elaborated by stating that the handler attached the handles to the baskets.
He shared pictures and recalled stories and events about his time. Ron retired in 2001-2002 but continued to help with tours and the Fenton Art Shop after retiring. Fenton Art Glass ceased glass-making operations in 2011 and the building was demolished in 2018. It was a sad day for past employees and Williamstown residents, as Fenton Art Glass Factory was such a staple to the town.
They say pictures are worth a thousand words, however, the time spent with Ron as he shared his life through each picture was worth a million memories and a joy to share such a moment.
